Do you know your English level?
Would you like to start learning English but are unsure which level would suit you best? Tallinn Language Centre’s two-part placement test helps us assess your current English skills and recommend a course that matches your knowledge, communication skills and learning goals.
To begin, enter your name and email address and complete the written placement test, which consists of 50 questions. You will see your result immediately after submitting your answers.
You can then book a convenient time for a speaking assessment with a teacher. During this individual interview, we will assess your ability to communicate in English and the fluency of your spoken language before recommending the course that is best suited to your level and goals.

Confident choice

Why take a placement test?
The right level means faster progress and better results. Our two-part placement test helps you find a course that offers the right level of challenge, builds your confidence and brings you step by step closer to your English-learning goals.
The right level, better progress
A placement test helps you avoid courses that are too easy or too difficult and learn at the right pace and achieve better results.
A balanced English level assessment
The written test assesses your knowledge, while the interview evaluates how well you use English in practice.
The right English course for you.
We recommend a course based on your written test result, communication skills and learning goals.
How does the placement test work?
The placement test consists of two parts. The written test assesses your grammar and vocabulary, while an interview with a teacher, either at our school or via ZOOM, assesses your speaking and communication skills.
Written Test
The written test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions designed to assess your grammar and vocabulary. It usually takes about 20–30 minutes to complete. You do not need to answer all the questions—answer as many as you can and submit the test.
Interview
A short individual interview with a teacher will take place at a time that suits you. During the interview, we will assess your spoken English, fluency and ability to communicate effectively. You can attend the interview either at our language school at Luise 4, Tallinn, or live online via Zoom.
What will you gain from the placement test?
Once you have completed the written test and interview, the teacher will assess your English level and help you find the course that best suits your skills and learning goals.
