Michael was born and raised in Buckinghamshire, England. He moved away from his home town of Milton Keynes in 2000 to study theatre and film at Leeds University. After graduating with a degree in Theatre and Dramaturgy, he worked in the British film and television industry for almost a decade. During that time he was involved with many TV programmes and made several independent films.
After deciding to move to Tallinn, Michael retrained to be an English teacher, was awarded a Cambridge CELTA, and has been teaching at International House since 2013.
In his spare time, Michael has a passion taking photos with his old 35mm film camera, reading literature from around the world, writing, watching films, and going for trips with his family. In 2019 he received an MA in Literature, Visual Culture and Film Studies from Tallinn University and the Estonian Arts Academy. Currently Michael continues with his doctoral studies.
