"Reaching the Policy-Makers" - presenter: Dr Lid King, National Director of Languages, Department for Children, Schools and Families (UK)

Dr King outlines his views on how policy is developed.  What are the factors which influence political decisions?  Are they different from the ways that academics or project developers conceptualise change?  Of particular interest may be the distinction between logic (practitioner world view) and ideology (political world view).

"Management of Language Projects within the LLP" - presenter: Gillian McLaughlin, Head of Sector, Languages and LLP Coordination,  Education Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency

A presentation of the languages team within the Executive Agency and an overview of the application procedures for the LLP. This presentation helps to understand who to contact within the Executive Agency, as the team has recently been enlarged.

 

"Networking" - presenter: Geoffrey Mazullo, Director, Partners for Financial Stability (PFS) Program, East-West Management Institute

Mr. Mazullo introduces the PFS Program; defines the PFS Program mandate; describes in detail a case study/example of a successful PFS Program regional initiative; describes the PFS Program network and explains how the PFS Program networks; explains what the PFS Program does differently (from other donor-funded projects and/or public-private partnerships). The case study provides a specific example of how the PFS Program networks in order to fulfill its mandate of promoting regional financial sector integration and financial sector development.
